A New Fellowship Program in Cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Climate Action

Digital Humanism aims to describe, analyze, and influence the complex interplay of technology and humankind, envisaging a better society and life in the digitized era. The new Digital Humanism fellowship program at the IWM has been jointly initiated with the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action (BMK) and is carried out in cooperation with Hannes Werthner, one of the leading experts in the field and the initiator of the Vienna Manifesto on Digital Humanism. It is funded by the BMK. Senior and Junior Visiting Fellows are invited to the Institute to explore the urgent intellectual challenges at the complex interplay of humans and machines. During their stay at the Institute, they work on crucial topics in the field, pursue interdisciplinary research, and organize lectures and discussions reaching out to the public audience in Vienna and beyond.
This evening will mark the official launch of the IWM's new fellowship program on Digital Humanism. After welcome addresses by Henriette Spyra and Michael Wiesmüller from the BMK, Hannes Werthner will deliver the inaugural lecture for the new program. It will be followed by a debate on the visions and challenges of Digital Humanism moderated by Ludger Hagedorn and involving the first Digital Humanism Junior Visiting Fellow Nena Močnik, who will introduce her research project. Participants are invited to a reception with wine and cheese after the event.

In Cooperation with the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology.
