It seems that Bob Dylan’s life and music never cease to be controversial. His recent Nobel Prize has ignited a worldwide dialogue concerning his contributions or lack thereof to the world of literature. Many are pleased by his receiving the laureate and many were angered over what they say is the committee’s confusion of high literary art and pop art.

Dylan has often been classified by many as more of a poet than a songwriter, using music as a vehicle for his enigmatic verse. Yet he has been lavished with the highest of awards for his music as well, including Grammy Awards, Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award presented to him by President Barak Obama.

Regardless of the controversy, he has written over 500 songs, many of which have become part of the world’s collective consciousness. He is probably most noted for his early works in the folk music scene of the 60s and his songs of social injustice. However he has produced volumes of work over the last six decades. He continues to write and perform and still surprises us with his unceasing self-redefinition.

Danny Chicago (LoCascio), has been on the Vienna music scene for over ten years, performing in various blues formations. He also has his own band in which he performs his own compositions. He produced a CD called Take Me to Vienna with his lighthearted compositions on his perspective on life in Vienna, in the styles of blues, rock, ballads and boogie. The list of musicians that perform on his CD is a who’s who of blues and rock musicians in Vienna.

Danny started performing his Bob Dylan Tribute in 2014. He has performed in clubs around Vienna and in the summer of 2016, he toured Austria, Czech Republic, Italy and Hungary with his Bob Dylan Tribute. He is often noted for the authenticity of his Dylan performance and how he captures the style and sound of Bob Dylan.

Danny was born and raised in Chicago, but has lived and worked in the Middle East, Malaysia, Morocco and now Austria. He hosts a bimonthly radio show on Radio Orange called Danny Chicago’s Blues Garage on which he highlights blues musicians in the Vienna area.
