WIENPREMIERE: ROMANIKA – Songs of a hungry soul

Romanika is, specifically, the musical stylings of a half-blood Gypsy/Slovak singer, author of music and guitarist Ika Kraicová and a Slovak upright bass player Roman Kraic. Their songs are a colourful mosaic of various emotional expressions – passion, depth and anger, joy with elements of pain, sadness which is not a lamentation, but the anticipation of something unexplained, almost sinful. You can hear ballads, chansons, czardas, wild songs and world music. After the first tones and words it is clear that before the spectators’ eyes there is a singer with an uncommonly artistic disposition and a fresh, unforgettable stage presence. In connection with a marvellous pallette of colours springing from the accordion and double bass, the Romanika music makes all the little strings in your body tremble with joy.
