"Bandan and the Band of Strangers started as a project to satisfy the desire of one Ingo Gruber to revisit songs in his native language.

Ingo had been writing and performing primarily in English with the likes of Pepe the Goose and Baldin. For this new endeavor, however, he adopted the name Bandan.

In a studio in the hills near Bregenz, Austria, he met Mr. Chris Laine (Gordon Blue, Convertible, the Desert Sessions) and he encouraged Bandan to take the time to develop this new repertoire. Together they spent two years writing and recording until it became clear it was time to form a group. That process began with bringing in musicians from far away places, like Vienna and Graz, but ended with the simple addition of local talent— Mr. Felix Bösch (Lustenauer Senf) on violin and flute and Mr. Michael Schneider (Prantl Fahrschule) on drums and percussion, both men born and raised in the lower swamps of the upper Rhein.

Ingo was Bandan. But what could you call this motley group of strangers? They were folks from places as disparate as Los Angeles, Salzburg, Höchst and Lustenau, yet everybody still had some kind of crazy connection. And so it came to be…

The music of Bandan and his band of Strangers is all about connections and reflecting upon just these kinds of relationships— painfully naive and innocent or raucous and inapproriate, political or just personal. It is inciteful progressive acoustic folk-pop with some punky spunk and a twist of the bittersweet.

The Band of Strangers can entertain for hours, playing their uniquely original material; an eclectic mix of songs in English, German and their regional dialect, floating on a magic carpet of mesmerizing music. In other words, good wholesome fun for the whole friggin planet."
